I don\'t do a lot of photography.
Well, scratch that, I don\'t post my photography, but I waste rolls of film whenever I see a good shot.
Right now, I\'m doing a series that\'s been brewing in my mind for a while. Called \"The State of the Union,\" it\'ll hopefully present a picture of a rift in America.
While doing this, I came across a bar/club.

In the front, on a huge, backlit sign, there were the words, \"Your safe here-- No weapons allowed.\"
You\'re safe here.
This policy ends at the door. The bouncer, eyeing carefully a group outside, explains that they don\'t have the manpower to keep the parking lot gunfree. The group he eyed for good reason. The tip of one gun\'s handle gave it away, along with a scattering of knives, etc.
You\'re safe here.
A scant four miles away there is Morrison road. Along this road, like overpolished pearls strung out, are planned communities of multimillion dollar houses. Also along this road are (3) speed traps, (4) stop lights featuring cameras, and (7) entrances to gated communities, replete with, even at two A.M., security guards.
Meanwhile, at the establishment that had to use basic human safety as a promotion, there was not a cop in sight.

For all of you who scream about how America is a grand land of equality and freedom, remember that.
And remember, those of you, sitting tight in suburban homes, that for many (most?) of America, freedom from constant fear is a powerful enough draw to be used as advertising.
